The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) will host The Forbidden City: Inside the Court of China's Emperors from Saturday, March 8 to Monday, September 1, 2014 in celebration of the China-Canada Cultural Exchange and ROM’s 100th anniversary.
The ROM is one of the largest museums in North America, attracting over one million visitors every year.
As a senator representing Ontario and a proud Chinese-Canadian, I am thrilled to be an active member of The Forbidden City’s Community Advisory Council. We are a diverse group of individuals who assist the Royal Ontario Museum, foster community partnerships and counsel on exhibition programming. Moreover, I am delighted that visitors from all backgrounds will have an opportunity to learn about a relatively unknown period in Chinese imperial history.
I encourage everyone to attend the Forbidden City exhibition. It truly is not only a compelling testament to Canada's strong bilateral relationship with China, but also a true reflection of our country’s rich and diverse heritage.
