OTTAWA, February 13 2015 – Senator Victor Oh issued today a statement to mark the start of the Lunar New Year:
I offer my best wishes to everyone celebrating the Lunar New Year across Canada and around the world.
The Lunar New Year brings family, friends, and the community together. It provides an excellent opportunity to reflect on the past and look to the year ahead with hope and determination. As a proud Canadian of Chinese heritage, I am pleased to see so many Canadians share in this special occasion.
During this exciting time, many Canadians of Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese descent will take part in vibrant traditions that celebrate their rich heritage. These festivities showcase Canada’s cultural diversity and are a testament to our country’s ongoing commitment to promoting multiculturalism.
The Lunar New Year is also a time when Canadians can reflect on the many contributions made by the Asian community to our nation’s prosperity.
May the Year of the Sheep bring you good health, happiness and prosperity!
