OTTAWA, March 23, 2015 - Senator Victor Oh today issued the following statement on the death of former Singaporean Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew:
It is with deep sadness that I have learned of the passing of former Prime Minister, the founding father of Singapore – Mr. Lee Kuan Yew.
As a senator of Singaporean descent, I offer the deepest condolences to his family, friends and join the people of Singapore in mourning the loss of a true visionary world leader.
I travelled to Singapore as recently as February 2015 with the Standing Senate committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade and over the years witnessed the transformation of Singapore into one of the most prosperous nations in the world since he led his country from Singapore’s independence in 1965.
His devotion and wisdom will be remembered for generations to come.
